How We Count This List

Each year's list is the start-of-year snapshot: every company recognized as a Dividend King entering 2021. The additions and removals above cover everything between the prior year's snapshot and this one.

We count Dividend Kings the inclusive way, in the style of Simply Safe Dividends' "all Kings" list: every company with 50+ consecutive annual dividend increases qualifies, including OTC and foreign listings (like Canadian Utilities and Fortis) and spin-offs that inherited a qualifying streak (like Kenvue from Johnson & Johnson). Narrower editorial lists show smaller counts for the same years — that's a methodology difference, not a disagreement about the companies. New milestones are recognized at our January update.
